What a train wreck. Me.com varies from a vague knockoff of hotmail to just completely dysfunctional. The Mail client on me.com is seriously hotmail circa 1998. Sometimes Apple's obsession with 'simplicity' and 'clean' interface goes too far.

Agreed. It's very sad that I pay $100 per year on such a third rate email client. Hopefully they at least add some formatting choices soon (along with the slew of other features they demoed but never gave us).

It's things like this that have always kept me from ever buying .mac or now mobileme. Why spend money for services which are free and in some cases better elsewhere?

hotmail? really?
i think mobileme is great. it hasn't been the smoothest transition, but it has been keeping all my devices in sync since day one. i'm quite pleased with the service and fully expect even more functionality to be coming in the future.

I've been rather impressed with MobileMe thus far. The syncing and push services have been absolutely awesome. Yahoo mail on the iPhone offers "push" but that service blows. I thought it was my phone but it's working flawlessly with MobileMe. I think they made this product right.

I don't understand how Yahoo Push can continue to get such bad press. During the first 3-6 months Yahoo Push was pretty bad but for the last 6 months it has been working pretty flawless for me. Very few problems. If I could have OTA Sync of Yahoo Address Book and Google Calendars then I would not be considering MobileMe. Of course I have not found any Calendar System to match Google. Maybe MS Live.com's new Calendar system will give them a challege. I was hoping MobileMe (a paid system) would combine the best of Yahoo Push, Yahoo Address Book and Google Calendars.

I didn't know it was getting bad press. I was just saying, it didn't work for me. There would be days where i would get 20 emails at once from the past few days.

To each his own. Some friends of mine still love their AOL email addresses
Everyone will have their own likes/dislikes
GMail comes easy to me and I have gotten to like the way it works

It's okay for you in USA to have email addresses @gmail.com but we in UK have to have @googlemail.com, a bit longer to type :)

I am trying MobileMe out, and I hate it, even though Hotmail really blows I think i prefer it above that piece of crap mail client.:o

I am a fan of it. I was a .mac member before and will continue with MobileMe. The syncing of all of the information is the key. The interface is fine, not great but fine.

uh, yes free... better, i dont think so. even comparable? I dont think so.
It is my assumption that such comments come from PC owners.
I always liked .mac and I love mobileme.

what are you talking about? Just because one is free and one costs 100$ per year doesn't mean you can't compare them. I think that the MobileMe interface online is too simple. I still use mobileme instead of hotmail, because I usually just use the iphone email, or Mail.app. But if I had to use an online interface I'd choose gmail or hotmail as it has features I've come to rely on and gmail is much much smoother than mobileme.

I'm not sure what "yanking my chain" means, but he was correct:

Some people report that sending to @gmail.com works too, but @googlemail.com certainly makes @me.com look like a good, short email address!

Wish I was! I was reading all about gmail, thought that's an ok address @gmail.com... but here in UK we have to have @googlemail.com which is a bit of a mouthfull :D

I'm not sure what "yanking my chain" means,
I thought it meant 'pulling my leg' but then thought the 'yank' bit meant something :D

Only if you were slow getting an email address. ;)
I'm in the UK and I have a gmail address, mainly because when I signed up it was a closed beta and they hadn't had the problem with the name.

archiving, filters (rules don't apply on MobileMe for some reason), and threaded conversations to name a few.

To be fair, that was nearly three years ago that they changed it, and you had to have an invitation back then too.
