Copy and Edit Commercial Movie Clips

I want to use clips from my favorite movies in my Powerpoint presentations. I have downloaded and tried dvd "rippers" and tried conversions to divx and I just don't get it. I can get sound and no video, jumpy video. Can someone explain conceptually what I must do. Say I want a 2 minute clip from the movie A Few Good Men - "You can't handle the truth - Jack Nicholsons line. What do I have to do - what software, what process? What about copy protection? Thanks

If you have a Mac use Handbrake to rip certain chapters then bring the clips into iMovie HD for trimming the clip
