I was think of upgrading my G4 350MHz with a Sonnet Encore/ST G4 800MHz processor. £233.83

Or i could get a second hand G4 Quicksilver 733MHz for about £600 and then sale my computer.

Has any one here used the Sonnet Encore/ST G4 800MHz processor.
in there G4. If so could you let me now how it went for you.

I have a G4 450, which I upgraded to a 1.0ghz. I went with Gigadesigns based upon reviews at xlr8yourmac.com., and cost.

It shipped clocked at 1.2ghz, and I've been running without any problems for several months.

Installation was amazingly easy.

Just my two cents.

I've heard very good things about Sonnet as well.

I am very pleased with the upgrade.

It's really your decision, but:

The upgrade card will have more raw proccessing power, but it could be bottlenecked by the aging hard drive, bus, ram etc.

The new computer might have less raw power, but it has newer everything else, which should help performance.
