Why don't apps sync back to my Mac?

I find it kind of annoying that no apps downloaded on my iPhone sync back to my Mac. I just found out that I had ELEVEN updates in iTunes ONLY. The App Store on my iPhone shows only one update. If I have to restore from a backup, will all of my apps resync?

Right click on your iPhone in the left column in iTunes, hit reset warnings.

Now unplug your iPhone and plug it back in. When it askes you if you want to transfer downloaded content, it isn't joking.
