Hey there,

Is it possible for either an iPhone or iTouch to connect to another iPhone or Touch without necessitating a local WiFi device?

Situation:

Two people are at home, but don't have WiFi.

Can the iPhone and iTouch connect and share data?
Could two iPhones connect and share data?
Could to iTouches connect and share data?

Thanks!

We should be able to send and receive data using the built-in bluetooth capability, right?

Will only work if the two phones are in close proximity though.

Thanks,

No, we can't for 2 reasons. First Apple didn't expose any bluetooth capabilities in the official SDK and second (and perhaps more importantly) the iPhone bluetooth stack does not implement the necessary protocols to make this a possibility (either object push protocol or the serial protocol).
