This is in response to the lonely teen thread.
There are a few of us, who have never been married/lived together and do get a bit lonely too. I'm just too tired after work to even consider going out.

I'm sorry because this is going to sound like I'm some giant *******, but when I saw this I had flashes of early AOL run through my mind. It actually made me laugh. Just to keep up with appearances....

I've not heard that little nugget for ages!
What about dating sites, iMac-Knight? If you've not had a chat with your friends about it, then confide in them and that's a great way to meet people.
That's my only advice, anyway. Best of luck.

As to dating sites, they cost money that I don't have. That said, it's been way too long since the last date. Trying to remember who was president then...

Yes there are. That's why I come here and take it out on the rest of you. :whiplash:
Still, if you're lucky enough and outgoing, this site has been responsible for quite a few hook-ups between forum members. :)

Somehow, I don't think that she wanted you to go after her when she made the suggestion. :p;)

I turn 45 this November. So, old as the hills to many here. Young at heart to others. Someone posted a poll about ages a month or so ago where 40+ was designated as stone age. :D

Also a 40+ wrinkly in the twilight of his years, but not very lonely - with pretty long breaks between relationships these days. I think the only solution is to get yourself out there, but not to try too hard.
I'm not sure what you do for work, but having it run your life while you're salaried really doesn't make sense especially in the position you seem to be. If you're self employed or a senior executive, etc the story might be slightly different but still, you should make time to go out if you crave a relationship. That, or find someone you like at work - although this might not work out all the time.

Yes, but in London...
London, UK, that is. Not London in Arizona, Ontario, Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Texas, West Virginia or even Belize. ;)

haha I also recall being in a chat room, the a/s/l would pop up, I'd answer and be riddled with IMs. Hell, all I had to do was enter a room and type "female" and the IMs would come. This was pre-Dateline NBC of course.

LOL ... my god I am having FLASHBACKS !!!! :eek:ROFL I recall a few of those answers from time to time. Oddly enough when I informed my parents of my new found "hobby" over a decade ago my father thought I was going to be abducted and my mom thought I was smuggling drugs. Interestingly enough I wasn't a teenage and I've never really done drugs.
Now, what's this about trouble? :rolleyes:As if you have to ask!

I've been divorced for 12 years, and it sure does get lonely. I keep myself busy by playing baseball, riding bike and listening to music.

So typical for a bunch of 40+'ers. A burst of unfamiliar activity and we're down for the count. Look at the Lonely Teens thread - it keeps going on and on.

1. Match.com
2. Do things with work friends. Hold a BBQ or something.
3. If you have neighbours, and its a nice summer afternoon, hold a BBQ or something.
4. Decorate the house. Hold a house warming - work friends, family, friends, neighbours - tell them ALL to bring friends.
5. Join a Singles evening.
And if work is getting in the way that much, and thats the reason for you being so lonely - find a different job.
You can't live your life centered around work.
As I'm sure you know, you get old too quick.
But the point is, you're never too old, so get out there and bloody do something about it! Pick yourself up!

I was lucky that a new 28+ baseball league formed here last year. We play two 11-week seasons, playing one game on Sundays. :)

I may talk to younger folk here, but thats just superficial. I have no desire to get close to anyone young enough to be my child, even if the person were 25. Too many generational differences, and just isn't right either.

Movies aren't a great date anyways.
Well, actually, you have to go to one movie together early in the relationship. That way you know if she talks during movies. If she does, best to end it early. :D
