better discount if you go to the apple store?

my co worker just informed me that her friends daughter just bought a macbook at the apple store. she said she got a $200 off student discount with free ipod touch and a free printer. i knew about the free ipod touch and printer but online the student discount is only $100. is it different in apple stores? i need to know since this apple store is far away from my house and the gas price is deadly
 
Student discount direct from Apple is the same regardless, online or in-store. You need to make sure you're comparing exactly the same purchase.
 
yea actually i didn't know students discounts diff depending on what type of mac, sorry. i'll ask her for the info.
