how tight is a MBP meant to close?

hi

i recently got a macbook pro, 15 inch 2.5ghz model and its great.

when i close the case however there still seems to be a little give in it if im holding it. its not an issue but im just wondering if thats how they are when closed or if mines latch is a bit crap.

There should be a slight give to it. Otherwise, the latches wouldn't be able to retract, if it closed so tightly that they're under pressure.
 
No, your latch is not crap. The closed MBP picture on the apple site IS crap.

There is always a little gap, as it is normal.

My old MacBook Pro had a pretty tight closed lid, but on my new one is like 1 mm around the clasps and about 2mm on the ends..
 
Nope, yours is normal. Mine is like that too, unfortunately. Hopefully when they add the magnetic latch this problem will be fixed.
