iPod skin recommendations?

I finally made it into the world of iPod this Christmas, and I'm loving it so far. :D

I have my iTrip on order thru apple.com, so next week I'll be able to take it with me in the car.

I've got my eye (no pun intended) on a sport pack type setup to take it with me on bike rides.

But I'm curious about the various skins available. I've seen some that have bendable bottoms to allow for docking, while some are super thin so that u can still use the case that comes with it.

Can I get some feedback on those of u who have them? Pros & cons?

i'm a big fan of the products produce by iskin ... I don't have a 3rd or 4th gen ipod, just my 2nd gen 20GB but I have an iskin for it. I've had the iskin for about 7 months and it fits perfectly and makes the ipod more useable. It also seems to absorb the shock or atleast the visual effects of accidetntally dropping the ipod. There are a lot of these types of skins out there be sure its a relaible company because i had another skin (a jam jacket) and it wasn't sized properly compared to the ipod ... www.iskin.com

The iSkin looks good...very good in fact. I would like to have port-ability with a skin though, and this seems to only allow for the wire at the bottom. I'll still keep it in mind, as I like the screen protector that comes with it. ;)

I saw some that come in a set of 3 for about $30 at CompUSA & on ebay. The bottoms bend up to allow port use, which I was hoping for. I just don't need 3 skins.

i orderd an iskin. works great. it really protects my ipod. i also use my ipod in the car and the hole on the bottom of the iskin wasnt wide enough to fit that connector so i customized the skin a little down there so the connector would fit. i used a hot butter knife to burn a wider hole at the bottom... turned out good.

I use a skin from Radtech that I absolutely adore. I tried a thicker skin made to fit any generation ipod which made it loose on my 3rd Generation. The radtech Thin Sleevz is exactly what I wanted and retains the sexiness quotient often lost by other ipod sleeves.

I personally like Speck Products stuff. They have three products for the iPod:

The FlipStand - hard $29.95
iPod Skin - soft $18.95
iStyle - PDA type case $34.95

I use the iPod Skin and think it's pretty good. It is a special rubber rather than silicone (which makes iSkin's stuff) meaning it gives you a good grip without attracting a ton of dust. Also, the rubber is much more durable. The screen protection isn't great, but you could get something to keep that scratch free too (or use a little Sandwich Wrap). One thing I love is that you never need to take off the iPod Skin. To sync (with dock or cable) you just flip the bottom part, which includes a rubber piece to protect the dock connector. Accesories like the iTrip and headphones fit right on top of the iPod without removing the case.

I bought a jamjacket for my 3rd generaition 20GB iPod this past friday, hours after purchasing said iPod. I thought the neoprene cover would allow for the iPod to still be able to dock in the cradle but unfortunately not. There's a slit on the bottom that allows for the firewire cable to be plugged in but me thinks I should have purchased one that had a removeable bottom.

The PodSleevs seems to be close to what I'm looking for. I want to be able to slide it into the clip case that came with it, so thinness is a plus. I would like to have added safety in case I drop it though, which works better with thicker, rubber cases like the SpeckProducts case.

Well, I bought the 3 pack of SpeckProducts skins today at CompUSA. It's a bit thick for using the clip that came with the iPod, but I think I'll get used to it. The buttons are a bit funny now, since they are recessed now, but not terrible. It actually helps out not to mistakingly hit buttons while holding some.

I also got the iTrip yesterday from apple.com. It works well enough. I'd prefer a bit clearer signal since I gave up tape quality 10 years ago for cd, but it's better than carrying around tons of cd's. ;)
