I have an ipod mini with what appears to be a shot hard drive. I have opened it up and taken out the old hard drive, and I left the orange ribbon w/ the gold connectors attached. Can I just pop on a CompactFlash card to this connector?

If so, will this work:

much appreciated

yes, most CF cards will work just fine in the mini. But why only put in 4GB when you can have 32GB ;). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211244
Good luck

I would say that your better off buying a ipod mini hard drive off ebay or something. But considering the Compact flash card is only $13 you could always give that a try first and see how it goes. If it works you fixed the ipod for $13 if it doesnt then you paid $13 more.

Yes, it will; but why stop there when Compact flash goes all the way up to (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211170) 32GB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211244)? You can at least treat yourself to 8GB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211259), as that is likely all you'll need or care to pay for for an old iPod mini.

I have already done a 32gb mod and it works well. Nice thing about CF cards you get a slightly better battery life.
