Third Party Software, Bad Idea?

I have just visited the App Store and found 16 programs that are free and look useful. Would it be suicide to try to download them all or should I download one at a time to be sure they don't cause conflicts with the iTouch?

The iTouch is on the way...haven't even received it yet and don't wish to crash it the first day I use it!!

How finicky is this device? Is it easy to use third party software or is it more trouble than it's worth?

I downloaded a ton of free aps when the app store first came out, and loaded them all onto my Touch without any problems. There's no issue with conflicts between the apps, because only one app can run at one time!
