Folks use these to boost feedback points ... or to buy them, more to the point. Then they appear to be more "legitimate" because they now have a few feedback points.
This feels like bad Karma...if it was for "feel good" they should just point them to the charity of their choice.

I think that would be an 'illegal' sale. There was one story I heard that a guy was selling his soul to the highest bidder. eBay shut him down because there was no physical material that changed hands; but it was stated that if he sold a 'document' that entitled the highest bidder to said soul, that was OK.
I've been tempted myself to have a dutch auction for packing peanuts; have nice photos of various packing chips from different angles, a wonderful description of the many uses, state that the item is sold 'as-is' but DOA peanuts will be replaced upon return of the product....
There's some weird ones out there, I did see a blank cassette tape sell for close to $20.00; the description was humorous --- describing what the tape was originally purchased for and a long story of its intended uses that never came to fruition.

I've got some of those lying around. I should sell 'em .25 each or 5/$1. ;)

iJon Yes they're liable to send you a box of poop, when you're expecting NOTHING.

What happens if I don't get good Karma? Is there any fraud protection for not receiving good Karma? I really want to bid on this, but I just don't know.:(

This might really be a scam of some sort. You pay the guy a dollar for good feedback and he gets your personal information. I would be wary.
