Hi all new around here so hopefully someone can offer good advice.

The story is just 3 months ago I hated all things mac! Now a few months later I have learned to love the MacBook Pro I use daily at my work.

I am wanting to purchase a standard MacBook - but, I have heard rumours that Apple and updating them next month so I am unsure whether or not to wait until the newer version is released.

Any advice is welcome, Thanks!

Andy

Ps. Yes this was also posted on eduGeek but thought these forums were more appropiate!

Buy when you need it. Wait if you don't.

What's more the resale value of Macs are good, so if you bought a macbook now and decided to sell it off a couple of months down the line for a newer model my bet is you wouldn't loose too much dough.

does apple have a thing where if they update a model, and you bought the old one within a few months (or weeks) they upgrade you for free?

Research. Search the forums. Then post. Buy when you need it.

Free hardware upgrades? LOL. Doesn't happen with ANY sustainable company that I know of.

Yes they do. 2 weeks from time of purchase. You can get the upgraded laptop for no charge. (you need to return the old laptop) This is done in order to quell the "how dare you update the mac when i just bought it yesterday" complaint. I checked with applestore just to make sure this was right... and its true.
