Black or silver. Plus the colors of the iPod ads: teal, green, purple, gold.

And here's an idea, for iPods and iBooks: sell a CLEAR model, ready to paint INSIDE. Even a rough paint job looks pretty glossy and slick when done on the INSIDE of an easily-removed clear shell.

And Apple could use the clear models as a basis for large custom-colored orders--like in a school's colors or for a product promotion or to identify a compant's laptops. (Logo decals/stickers could be put inside too.)

Pure white, like virgin snow... That's what I like. Reminiscing of the gumdrop iMac with new products seems to be a mistake. Hopefully, Apple will surprise me.

Like everyone else it seems, the best color for the iPod is either black or white. If I had to choose another color, I guess that red would be ok.

Personally, I would rather have a clear iPod. I think it would be kinda cool to see all of the internals. But then they would be giving away a little of their design without having to sell one to the competitor for them to take apart. But, it would still be nice.

I'm getting my daughter a pink one. I'm tired of managing the measly 0.032GB (aka 32 MB) of her Rio Volt and having to choose which of 10 songs needs to go to put a new one on.

And as far as marketing them is concerned, they should call them 2000 MB and 4000 MB iPods since they will be duking it out in the segment where capacities are compared by megabytes. (Or they could be really cheesy and call them 16,000 and 32,000 Mb.)

http://www.colorwarepc.com/ already sells colored iPods. They even have black (http://www.colorwarepc.com/_inventoryImages/productOptions/large/1653.jpg) ! Colorware also sells color tiBooks. You can buy a computer or iPod new from them or send one to them to be "colorized."

I am pretty excited to see if this pans out, as well. I only have a small collection of just over 250 songs in iTunes, so spending $400 on a massive 10,000 song capacity iPod isn't in my realm of necessity, but a small 1-2 gig iPod for a reasonabe price would be awesome.

i think if they did the faceplates some people would be happy, but some people (me included) might get annoyed if some people make things like blinking ones whenever it's playing like cell phones. those annoy me.

what about that technology apple patented a couple of years ago that was supposed to have dynamic colors...I mean, they were supposed to change according to user preference/emotion or something.

I personally prefer white over anything, but if we could have an iPod in which you could load a picture and have that be the color, wouldn't that be pretty frikin' awesome? Seems a little implausible and expensive to me, though.

But still, think about it. You could have a "my first child" or "Lord of the Rings" or "Trigun" iPod, and you could change it whenever you liked to whatever you liked.

edit: also, how about an iPod whose color changed based on the music playing. Basically, a visualizer displaying over the body of the machine.
