I'm about to buy an AppleTV. I only have 15gb of photos, 15gb of iTunes, and 10 or so SD DVDs I'd like to somehow store on it as well (that another 40gb±). So already 70gb, but am starting to get into HD iMovies. I'll want to add a few HD family movies (not even sure on their file size yet, but assume similar to any other 90 minute HD content).

So what is the best hard drive set up without going over board? I currently have a 500GB FW800 hooked up to my Mac (MacBook Pro). Will that do?

I have a 500GB firewire 400 external drive hooked up to my iMac and it works fine. My photos and music are on my internal drive, but all my movies (several hundred) are on the external, and I still have some room to spare. When that drive fills, I'll just get another one to add to the chain.
