Automatically Switching Windows

So this is the problem:

When I am trying to something in one window ex. typing this message it goes make the window turn a greyish color and make me click on it in order to continue. I have dealt with it for atleast a month and i need it to stop.
Please help...Thanks

Is there a cat walking across your keyboard? Actually, either your mouse button is being pressed or a key combo is being hit causing the "active" window to be something other than the one you want. The other alternative is a broken OS but I would explore the first idea first. If that doesn't work, consider reinstalling the OS with "archive and install."

Are you typing on a laptop? When I'm typing on my PowerBook sometimes I'll hit the trackpad by accident and this happens. It's quite annoying.
