The same case was available for the iPhone (1st gen), and is now starting at $110 with a handicraft process of 30 days. This is one of my favorite cases on the site. Though I do not have it, I would have gladly waited until now to buy this one instead of the SP I ordered if I would have known it was going to be made for the 3G, as well.

Does it really take 45 days to ship? I ordered the SP for iPhone 3G (dark blue stripe and black case) on the 8th of July... My iPhone isn't shipping for another ten days probably, and I'm hoping they both come at the same time. I've decided I won't use my iPhone until the case arrives. Is it truly worth the money?

Yeah it looks awesome. I love that the belt clip is optional. I don't like having a belt clip and the cases in the apple store did.
It looks like for $10 less you can get it sans stripe. Still $85 is a pretty penny for a case. Especially now that the phone is $200. But its probably worth it. I know Vaja has been around forever and they do quality work
The 45 days is probably due to the fact that everything is handcrafted. And actually reading more, each case is made after you order it. In other words, they have no stock. Oh and the fact that their production factory is in Argentina probably doesn't help matters either. But the more I read their site, the more I crave one.

I ordered my Vaja case on 14 July (Black leather with a red leather stripe & my name embossed) and received confirmation 24 July of shipping via Fedex from Argentina. Expected delivery in UK is quoted for 29 July. US$ 77.00 inc shipping. Should look quite cool with a black 16GB iPhone 3G and the pouch style will keep 'phone safe from scratches, although the plastic cases are very solid.

If y'all haven't had a vaja case before, you will love it. the fit is absolutely perfect and the quality of the leather is first rate. Mine was black with a dusty olive (khaki) stripe (just sold it on e-bay) very custom and professional.
For delivery, mine took exactly what they said, no sooner. patience... it's worth it.
Next vaja will have a brighter stripe

I just got the Vaja Top (stripeless) for my 1st gen phone just to cure my new gear lust for the moment. I figured that with the Vaja case and 2.0 I might just convince myself that I dont need to get the 3G phone -- I want to hold out for the 32gig model.
Anyway I ordered the all black Top for the first gen phone because they keep that one in stock. Still took a week to receive it as it was held up in customs for no good reason that I can tell.
That said, listen -- the Vaja Top/SP is BY FAR the coolest case I have ever used for my iPhone. And I have used at least seven cases for it so far: let's see, the iSee v.1, iSee v.2, Showcase, Marware sportsuit, A.B. Sutton slip,
DLO hip case, InCase slip case with belt clip. To varying degrees I have hated them all but this Vaja well it is the best!!!! For one thing it protects the entire phone, and since I have the dropsies with this phone I am grateful for that. For another, the fit and finish is simply astounding. The leather is protective but beautiful and it has that drop-dead-gorgeous look even in plain black. When you get a call you can answer it incredibly quickly as if it had no cover on the screen. The flap is easy to adjust to, as you can just fold it back when you are on a call. It snaps shut reassuringly and opens easily. Just brilliant design.
And ooooooooooooooooooooo that new leather smell -- intoxicating!
Whatever the wait, it is worth it.
With a 45 day wait period I may never buy a new iPhone -- I couldn't stand to be without this case! Maybe the 32gig that I crave will have the same 3G chassis -- whaddya think? So maybe I should order the case for the 3G phone in advance of new versions????
I'm in love with Vaja.

I'm curious about your statement above. I own the equivalent (SP?) case for my iPod touch, and positively love it. But I was concerned about the flap on the iPhone, in part because I was afraid it would annoy me when answering calls and look strange when using the phone. What do you mean when you say you could answer calls as if the case had no cover?
I was eagerly awaiting the iVolution case for the iPhone 3G. Now that it's on their site, I'm not so sure. Aesthetically, I can't quite get around the strange logo thing in the upper right corner. I think a symmetrical treatment up there would have been far preferable.
At any rate, I'm now back to the whole flap thing. If the flap really isn't an issue (as it isn't on the Touch), then I'm probably good to go. So, if anyone can reassure me, please do.

I've been looking for a sweet case and just bought a case from incase just to do for now. I looked at this website and I had to change my pants! Screw you all....*goes to order the SP*
EDIT: damn this case is sexy, I have a real weakness for things that look good

What I meant to say is that it is incredibly quick and easy to flip the cover open, so that you can answer calls as quickly as if the case had no cover. The phone rings, presto chango the cover is down and you can answer. I fold the cover back so that the cover doesn't dangle while I talk but not always. It's not a big deal to manage that aspect, but it is great to have the whole phone protected, including the screen. About the only negative I've noticed is that the interior of the leather cover does seem to smudge the screen when closed. I'd thought the screen would stay pristine, but no. Ther emust be oils in the leather that get on the glass. Whatever, I still love mine and am surprised by how "quick draw" it is to answer a phone call -- MUCH better than a slip case or holster case, and only fractions of a second slower to answer than a naked case (no screen cover)>

well, i caved and ordered one last night. As above, black with a red stripe (what can I say, you picked a great combo)
the hardest part is selecting the color combination you want.. Lots of nice colors, clip/no clip and personalization if you're inclined
It ended up being $102 with shipping for no "add-on's"

That makes sense, thanks for the clarification. As I mentioned the flap has never bothered me on my iPod touch case, so I don't even know why I'm worried about it now. And as others have observed, their cases are truly beautiful. I should stop obsessing, order, and enjoy.
BTW, my Touch case is black with the dark blue stripe. That combination also looks amazing.

I noticed that some readers here mentioned the iPod touch. Since the iPod touch is not a phone and you won't hold it near your face (when handfree is not an option), a case with a flap is difficult to compare in this condition. Am I right?

Sure, of course there's a difference. But having one for your iPod touch should let you imagine how it would be with your iPhone...just put it up to your head. :)
It's not such a far stretch, although it is a little different, I agree.

The SP with black/red stripe plus the clip. I also had reservation about the flap as I was wondering if it would look awkward and impede the usage of the iPhone as an iPod in landscape mode (like watching a movie). But I liked the fact that it protects the front screen. A quick question: when you charge, do you have to take the iPhone out of the case or do you just open the flap and plug in the connector?

they should make one with the flip up the other way and expose the port. :)

You just open the flap and plug in the connector to charge. Here's a pic of my old iPhone in the ivolution SP - hope this helps! I have never had a reason to take it out of the case - when I have, it looks brand new. The great thing about having the flap hinged on the bottom is that it does not get in the way of the camera.

I am planning to get another for my new phone, just as soon as I can decide on the color combo! :D (I am thinking purple with white stripe, for my white 3G. This one is vibrant green with light sky stripe.)

I have a generation 1 iPhone with a Vaja Ivolution Grip case. Quality is outstanding with just the right amount of protection and the case slides neatly into pocket or brief case. Minalamist case for sure.
Hope Vaja rolls out the grip for the 3G so I can bite on a 3G iPhone. Still have 11 months let on my Applecare warranty so guess it is a waiting game.

Wow... I'm glad I started this thread, as I managed to incite people to discuss the Vaja cases so much, some have ordered them, too.
At first I was a bit reluctant about having ordered the case due to the flap, but now I have no worries at all... not to mention the fact that it has the dark blue against the black background. Absolutely beautiful. :p
I count so much on the members of MacRumors' judgement that now I know that I made an excellent choice in ordering the case. Now I REALLY can't wait for it to arrive haha.

Had it a year and it was as tight as the first day. definitely not a worry. it is a tight-as-a-glove fit. The top cover is just off kilter because there was no phone in it when i took the pic.
i am really amazed at the craftsmanship. I don't know how they shape the leather and make it stiff to fit the phones curves. regardless... 43 days and counting...

I was going for a black one, but I wanted to match the case with my white iPhone.
This thread made my mind up for me. I was going to order the Case Mate Naked Case thinking that would be cool, being transparent and all. I also was eyeing the Otterbox Defender Case. Both these cases are still not available as of this writing. Since I am willing to wait anyway, I decided to pull the trigger on the Vaja.
Would be curious to see if this thread would be where we would post our cases once we take delivery 45 days from now.

It fits very well. The only difference I can see is that the chrome bezel is slightly visible at the edges of the front cover when you view the iPhone face-on, but that is actually a nice detail.

Good grief, cd3660! That does look nearly perfect!!!!
How weird -- if you want to order a Top SP for the first gen, it will take fifteen days. But for the 3G, it will take 45! So if you're willing to take a chance on the first gen version you can get it a month faster! Yikes! And if you go for basic black like I did you can have it in three days!
I take it that the 3G case delay is because they haven't fabricated one yet for the 3G and are trying to match it perfectly. But how much better can it be??
I take it the latch works well too?
As for the chrome bezel showing, that makes sense since the 3G is slightly wider. But my bezel shows slightly too (on my first gen case for my first gen phone) and I too like it!!!!
This is very interesting indeed. So maybe I could upgrade to the 3G after all and not worry about waiting for a new Vaja case??? Mmmmm.

I had a feeling that you might be tempted. For that reason I was a little hesitant about posting, but what the hell! I love my 3G even more than I loved my 1st iPhone. Spoil yourself!
Incidentally the clasp works fine, and can be adjusted manually by pressure being applied in the desired direction. I think that the leather on the Vaja case covers a bendable metallic (or similar) frame so minor adjustments can be achieved by such pressure.

Fair enough. One thing though -- I didn't think through the implications of the case basically being metal underneath the leather. I assume this does not impact the signal strength? I thought using any metal at all has the potential to impact the signal? Haven't noticed any impact on my reception at all, but I'm just wondering.

I wouldn't recommend that anyone should order a first generation Vaja case for a 3G phone, but if you happen to have one anyway there is not much point in buying another because the first one does fit.
There again, if $100 plus is just small change to you .....

I am now a little disappointed by the way the colors I ordered might look in real life. Not that it does not look nice (black with dark blue stripe), but the shade seems more faded, while the colors on the site look darker and more solid. I half-expected that to be the case, but I will not deny that even then the way the colors actually look do not meet my expectations in the slightest. In any case, thanks for showing me the pictures, CD3660! I especially like how the iPhone 3G looks in the case (not the color, necessarily).

It is true that the colours look more vibrant and sumptuous on the website, but they are computer generated images as wronski remarked earlier.
Perhaps my photos are not up to much (taken in artificial light), and you may be happier when you see the case 'in the flesh'.
As a consolation you can be certain that there is nothing classier than a Vaja case for the iPhone!

I'm now disappointed too. I've ordered the ivolution in black/dark blue and the dark blue. Now I wished I chose blue or light blue!
I'm curious. Since the bottom piece doesn't cover the iPhone completely, does dust track along the sides? I've been using hard cases fit my iPhone and now iPhone 3g and dust trapped at the sides is a major problem!
Not that I'm that paranoid abt the phone getting scratched but just trying to keep my phone look pristine!

So I've been browsing this thread and am now fully convinced I need one of these vaja cases. The ivolution SP certainly looks awesome and am now leaning towards it. At first I wanted maybe just the ivolution case because I wanted a case where the screen was easily accesible but the SP just looks so nice.
My question though is, what are your opinions on the Clip? I was thinking of getting one because I'm not sure the phone will fit easily in my pants/jeans pocket with the SP case on it. The clip would be great because I can just clip it on my belt and not have to carry a purse/bag all the time.

It's a nice case. People pay above average for things like wallets, watches, cars all the time to get a quality product. This is the same.

To a student a $100 maybe be alot of money ... but when you can claim it as a tax deuction (in Australia thats basically a 40% discount) and you're earning a decent wage - why not spend $60 on something that is the best on the market?

Actually, if you add up what I spent for cases it is literally a couple of hundred dollars -- BEFORE the Vaja! iPhone cases basically -- well -- they suck. Big time. Someone doing the proper research in advance, thinking about what they need and then buying the Vaja Top/SP BEFORE trying all these cheezy cases -- well they will end up SAVING money, big time.
I love my Vaja even in basic black!

I wrote Vaja to request a grip case. Seems like Vaja's case lineup for the original iPhone was pretty large (although it is now much smaller), so there's certainly hope.

I dunno... I spent all the money on the phone I might as well put it in a decent case. And like someone else said, you get what you pay for generally. Most cheaper cases are simply that.... cheap.

Ditto. My basic black Vaja has served me well. In my job, I send/receive 50-75 Emails a day and send/receive 3000+ text messages a month. I wanted something that felt good & solid in my hand. The Vaja I-Volution in basic black has fit the bill perfectly.
I'll definitely need to have one for a 3Giphone before I upgrade.

Well it seems you only have 24 hours and then its too late to change your order

As some have already mentioned before, two of the things that I also considered before buying the case in the first place were durability and quality. I would rather spend $100+ on one case that will do what it is supposed to do (as advertised), than on several cases that are not made well enough and that do not protect the iPhone like a Vaja case does. As a matter of fact, I have yet to read a review of a Vaja case that either does not mention its high quality and build or that states that the case is not worth the money.

Ok, I'm seriously considering ordering one of these. But I need to know (for those of you who have it), is it easy to take in/out of the case?
I'm also having trouble deciding which colors to get. I'm kinda liking dark blue w/white strip and black w/vibrant green stripe. Ahhh, this is so frustrating.
EDIT: I went ahead an ordered the SP, black with vibrant green stripe. No clip. I was about to get my last name personalized, but then realized I would have a much better chance of selling the case after a new phone came out if it didn't have my name on it.
I can't believe I just spend $102 on a phone case.:( Someone talk me out of canceling my order (if that's even possible).

Thanks to this blasted thread, I've plunked down $102.00 that I didn't need to spend, to get one of these gorgeous cases! I originally ordered the Black w/ Dark Blue stripe, which is nice. However, after seeing the Black w/ Rosso (Red) from that YouTube video posted, I have decided to change my order to that combination. I've E-mailed them, and believe I am within the 24 Hour period to make the change. I hope so. Either way, if not, I still know that I'm getting a beautiful case. The only problem is the waiting!

But, do what I did -- order the Top (same as SP, only stripeless) in classic black, with or without a belt clip and get it in a couple of days -- no waiting! They keep those in stock, along with the Special Edition (pebbled weathered brown --gorgeous) Top. Why wait or buy a used SP?

How does the lip catch wear on the SP case does it become loose overtime as the leather stretches or would it potentially scratch the plastic 3G case or chrome bezel ?

Listen, first gen Vaja owners -- is the leather covering some kind of plastic or is it metal? If it is metal, might that negatively impact reception -- especially for the 3G version of the phone?

My Generation 1 phone has scratches on the chrome bezel but not from the case per say. It is in and out of my pocket, brief case, or jacket that it is general wear and tear. Pretty normal IMO.
It's gonna scratch if you use it. My Treo's, BB's, and various Moto's all scratched because, guess what, they got used.

Aug 5, 2008, 05:34 PM
I can only speak for the Top SP (as I bought 2 for the iPhone 2G). It is a snug fitting case which adds very little bulk to the iPhone. I imagine that the only way the dockable case could be slimmer is if the case is very thin indeed.
Now, if you were to ask which is the more attractive case, I would not hesitate in saying the SP. It is beautifully designed and crafted, and somehow looks like it is part of the iPhone rather than an an accessory or 'add-on'.
Buy it and weep whilst you wait!

doesnt allow port access. pretty annoying if you want to plug your car radio into your iPhone, I wouldnt want to flip it everytime, as that is annoying.
they should make one with the flip up the other way and expose the port. :)
That's a good point, and I wonder if that is why they don't show any pictures of the case flipped open with an iPhone installed.
Does anyone have this case that can speak to how easy or annoying it is to remove the phone to use the ports if you regularly want to plug it into a car stereo and/or a car charger? I'm on the verge of ordering this but imagine this annoyance may make it not worth the premium cost.

I have this case for my first iPhone and will have one for my new one. I have never had a reason to take my phone out of the case to use any of the ports, and for the most part, the phone has rarely left the case since I got it. I posted this earlier in the thread, but here is a pic of the cover flipped back, which is how I normally have it when in use. The exception is when I'm using the camera. The other port and buttons are fully accessible with the case closed. Hope this helps.

That's immensely helpful, thanks. Still a little "eh" on the flipping the phone open every time, but considering it. The nice thing about Vaja seems to be their quality and uniqueness... probably will only rarely see someone else with the case. Downside of that is I probably won't ever get to see one in action until I drop $100 for it.
In any case, thanks again. :)

Yes 45 days is a hell of a long time to wait. I am on day 34... Have been trying out different cases in the meantime (which has dug a big hole in my wallet!!!)

For what it's worth, I have used other cases with a cover - one with a magnet, one with a snap - and I did quickly tire of them. The way the Vaja one is designed, however, has never been a bother for me, and I actually find it to be one of my favorite features of it. With the same hand I hold the phone as I take it out of my pocket, all it takes is a quick push with my index finger to flip the case down. Even after having the case for a year, I still love looking at it and consider it money well spent. I'd gone through a lot of cases, mostly out of boredom, but after getting this one, I was completely happy with it. :) Hope those of you who are getting one enjoy it as much as I have!

Yes, I saw it in the morning, but when I checked the site again in the afternoon to update this thread, they had taken it down. It is very convenient, though, as you mentioned. Especially for people who do not care to wait 45 days for a more customizable case. I happen to like the choice in color this time around, unlike the original iPhone's brown one.

Unfortunately can't give a direct link because it's Flash based site, but here are the directions:
Phones -> Apple -> iPhone 3G. It's the fourth case from the left, between the red ivolution Top and yellow ivolution Grip.
I just noticed that while the case is shown at the vajacases.com site, it is not shown on the vajachoice.com site.
So, indeed, there is also the option of the Limited Edition, Black n' Red, which starts at $80 and ships immediately.

Be aware that even with in-stock items, things can be delayed in customs. My in-stock Top was shipped immediately and then it sat in Argentina customs for an entire week before it left the country!

That's odd... why did it take so long to go through when you are exporting???
I thought it only took time to clear items when they are imported.
We have to pay import duty for Vaja cases (if we are from US or UK), right?

I ordered the case yesterday, 8/13. After 24hrs of ordering I got mail that they have charged my credit card and their "master artisans are now starting to handcraft the order".
Also yesterday evening I asked when the case would be shipped (to see what their immediate shipping means ;)) and how long will it take to reach Finland. I got reply 18hrs after my question that the case would be shipped today and the shipping would take between 3 to 5 working days. Haven't received any shipping confirmation yet.

The flap is a little annoying I find, because it adds an extra step to using the phone: flip open, slide to unlock. Same for answering. But at least it protects the screen very well.

I can beat that. I actually did order one, along with a Grip case. I put it in my cart, confirmed that both items were in my verification pop-up, and completed the order. Everything was fine until I received my confirmation e-mails listing only one of the two cases I ordered (the Grip case). I e-mailed them immediately, but by that point the Black n' Red case already was sold out.
I'm absolutely livid. Although I explained the situation and check-out process to Vaja in great detail, their response was a complete blow-off. Business must be so good that they simply don't care about doing anything at all for their customers.
I should mention that I was a repeat customer (this would have been my fourth Vaja case) and I was all set to order one of the Crystal 2 cases for my wife. I was even thinking about a Macbook Air shell and one of their mousepads. Not anymore.
If anyone ordered one of the Black n' Red cases and is having second thoughts, I'll happily buy it from you for the amount you paid, including shipping, etc. I'll never buy another case from Vaja, though.

I have to say my experience with their customer services has been the same. They do make a very nice product but their customer service has a lot to be desired. I have made queries with regards a previous product I bought which was marked, their response being send it back and we will examine it and if necessary make another one for you, which having waited weeks for the original plus shipping was not the option I wanted to hear. As for the non functunality of their ordering system, which having tried about a dozen times to achieve the other night I was sure the problem was not at my end. Their reply was quick, but blunt and unhelpful.
At present that model is out of stock and we cannot assure if we will receiving more from production, and if so, when exactly.
Their customer service is far too rigid and inflexible which suggests that the person(s) working there have no real idea or power to do anything other than give a set list of responses. Very poor considering the prices we pay for their product.

Does anyone from the UK know how much import tax I'll need to pay for the iVolution SP ($80)? Or at which percentage?
Edit:
I called customs. It's a 17.5% for VAT, plus another 3% import tax on top if there isn't some form from Argentina to say that the goods originated from there.
And depending on the courier, there may be a Ģ10 handling fee...
So I'm looking at a Ģ20 extra (just for VAT and the import tax).
Hope the case is worth that much!

I bought a vaja case which are shipped by fedex. I did not pay any duty on top of the shipping cost which if I remember rightly was quite expensive. Having previously shipped with fedex to the UK from abroad I am sure the sender pays duty in the shipping cost.

Aug 15, 2008, 08:22 AM
Yes, they are shipped by FedEx and in my experience FedEx normally invoice you for taxes subsequent to delivery. Unfortunately they are far too organised in this respect.
In January I ordered 2 Vaja ivolution Top SP cases and remember getting hit for about Ģ30 U.K. vat and handling charges.
Perhaps the value of just one would slip under the radar!

If you look at the Vaja terms and conditions, they make it clear that taxes are the responsiblity of the purchaser.
N.B. Different rules apply for Florida because Vaja have an office there. Not sure about the rest of the U.S.A.

I checked my invoice for my previous vaja phone case. You are right that it says customer responsible for import duty (strange that when I have tried to ship through Fedex from US to UK, fedex makes sender responsible for taxes, must be because it is a business account?). But I never got billed, maybe because of low value ?

Quite possibly. I think that may be a threshold below which tax is not payable or below which they simply don't bother.

Vaja cases are the absolute best cases you can get for the iPhone! I had one for my 1st gen iPhone and I have one on the way for the 3G. Yes, they are expensive but, I am a firm believer in the old adage, "you get what you pay for." $107 U.S. delivered in my case.

I live in Canada, and I received the case without paying anything extra. I'm pretty sure I didn't even pay sales tax (was never asked to).
They mark the value of the case on the box...my $45 case was marked at like 27$ or something (the rest being their profit...so they say..)
I didn't have to pay duties and taxes, and I'm in Canada, the most anal country when it comes to this stuff. So being in the US I wouldn't worry too much.

Thank you so much for your reply. I just don't want my Sister to have to dish out any of her own money to pay for something I ordered. I live in an apartment, and I just don't trust having something delivered here, and having the delivery man just leave it outside the door. It amazes me that they do this, but, it happens all the time, and the risk is that someone else will just take your stuff. So, I am having it delivered to her house, just to be on the safe side.

I've just received mine Black n' Red case! Shipping confirmation received 14th and delivery received 20th of August. Not any custom fees when shipped to Finland. It came in a white box with several ad cards for other Vaja products. The case itself was loose inside the box so no caseholder like in iPhone's package.
The case is more matte than glossy black leather and it fits very tightly with the Invisible Shield full body on, doesn't add much bulk. Actually I have hard time removing the phone from the case because IS is very grippy against the inner leather. Well I'm keeping the phone in the case most of the time anyway ;)
The smell of new leather is good and the case feels like a high quality product. No defects shown on the case. The top clip feels snappy and pretty grippy because of the IS.

Well that nice surprise I was talking about earlier was my case. I had the Ivolution for my original 1st gen iPhone and sold it with the the 1st gen. The clip is very small and does not stick out nearly as far as I thought it would and the more I use it with the belt clip the more I am glad to had got the clip. It is so minimal you can use the case on its own and it doesnt look silly with the clip. I will say again that I have owned many cases by many brands and the Vaja is by far the most well crafted case I have ever seen......hands down. By the way the black and red colors together are incredibly sexy and the grain of the leather is fantastic. Also, nothing beats the smell of a Vaja case and it seems to last for ever as well. Anyways I heard they will make a few more available in the next couple of days so keep an eye out....you wont be dissapointed.

Got my iVolution SP today. Vaja marked down the value of the case to $20, so I think I have dodged customs successfully!
Very impressed with the case. The leather is nice and soft. Though I'm a bit careful in opening the case to use the phone as I think I'll tear the leather or scratch the phone. I'm sure I'll get used to it soon.
When did you place your order?

To all of you who have the iVolution SP or Top for a while, does the leather covering the bit where the flap clips onto the top of the iPhone wears off over time?
Coz I can see 3 little chips in the leather already. It's not completely worn out but just exposing the leather underneath.

The leather is painted; the paint can chip off. See, e.g., http://discussion.treocentral.com/showthread.php?t=136175&page=2 or http://www.blackberryforums.com/bbf-reviews/80378-review-vaja-balance-blackberry-pearl.html
However, I've owned a few Vaja cases and (despite their abysmal customer service, which I've loudly complained about elsewhere), I've found their quality and durability to be quite good.

I beg to differ my friend. I have owned 4 Vaja cases now and ever seen any evidence of painted leather, only very high quality dyed leather that even after months of usage still has that new leather look and smell. In my opinion you will not find a better made case anywhere !!! Just my 2 cents.:)

Hi from Spain :p
I own a i-Volution Grip for my iTouch in Provincial Blue with belt clip and absolutely love it , the clip works awesome , the reason I paid that amount for a simple case was the fact that I needed so much a decent belt clip system and a case which didnīt cover to much of the pod itself since the first one Iīve got ; an iskin was annoying specially when I had to type on the keyboard and the belt clip was terrible and useless .
I ordered for my iphone an i-volution top in Black ... canīt wait until it arrives
Saludos

The last photo showed what appears to be paint coming off. Started with one chip and now there's some more coming off.
Overall the leather feels quality and I'm very happy with the case!

I think I know what your problem might be. If you run your finger across the top of the iPhone, where the SIM card slot is located, you will feel rough plastic there. That may be the cause of the "scratched" paint. I ordered that same color combination, as well. So now I know what it is going to look like! Thanks!

Think you may be right, that sim card slot is the culprit.
More of the dark blue 'paint' is getting rubbed off. At least it's not easily noticeable so it's alright I guess. I can see that the next layer of leather has also been dyed blue, at a lighter tone.
Otherwise I don't see any other problems with wear and tear so far...

I haven't tested it out yet, since I don't have my case, but I think a simple and effective solution would be to apply a piece of gift wrap tape (the "barely noticeable" and smooth type) to the top of the iPhone, where the SIM card slot is. That should solve the problem. I'm gonna do that as soon as I get my case.

I'm beginning to guess that the Argentine postal service does not operate at all on weekends, as my package has not moved since Friday night, and is still in Buenos Aires. Looks like I'm not getting it today after all :(.

No more than Fedex works here in the UK over a bank holiday weekend. My case was taken back to the local depot on Friday as I was at work and it could not be delivered. I have to wait until tomorrow (Tuesday) to speak to them and re arrange delivery

Sometimes tracking doesn't really give you 'live' status. There can be a certain lag of few hours.
Certainly when I was tracking my Vaja case on the Fedex website, there was a lag of somewhere between 1 to 4 hours.

I don't think that's the case, as it was scheduled for delivery by 12, and it's past 5 now. According to the Fedex page, it's still in Buenos Aires.

Yeah probably some hold up. I'm from the UK and I think the package spent time in Customs clearance, although just overnight. Their delivery estimate was spot on. I wouldn't be surprised if the US customs are stricter.

Just my luck! I forgot that nobody was going to be at home today during the time of delivery. So I missed my case that I've already been waiting 50 days for. Now I have to leave a pre-signed slip on the front door so that it is at least left there when I come home from school tomorrow... patience is key...

How are you guys holding the case when using the iPhone? Do you just fold that flap back behind the iPhone or just it hang? The only reason I haven't committed to buying this yet is because I can't see how I can pull this out of my pocket and answer a call or something without using both hands.

You can pretty easily use only your other hand by holding the sides and flipping the flap down by using your index finger. Only practical option then is to leave it hanging, you'd need both hands to fold it back. I personally leave the flap hanging when I'm answering a call and fold it back when I'm making the call because then you have all the time you need.

Nice though this is, what is so special about the ivolution Top Silver that warrants a price of $200? Are the borders of the closing section made out of solid silver? Even if they are, the price of silver is at an all-time low isn't it?

I sometimes think that the folks who maintain the Vaja website are having a laugh. They just post a photo of a product and the price and expect customers to buy them. There is absolutely no description of how the Top Silver differs from the other models.
I have had the iVolution SP for a week and have to say remains very impressed. Now just waiting for the Black and Red!

Nice review. Can we get pictures :D? If it didn't take them so long to make their cases, I would've gotten the Vaja iVolution SP for my iPhone 3G. Instead, I just went with a Sena Ultraslim case. I'm not a huge fan of it, I really prefer flip cases, but no companies had any when I ordered.

The sweet leather scent that emanated from the white Vaja box was truly intoxicating. Then again, the sweat that was running down my forehead due to the contained excitement might have added to the smell. I mean, I had waited 51 days for something I spent $120 on, and only bought based on strangers' opinions online, and I finally had the opportunity to see it for myself. I had three very high expectations for the case, so it had better be a good-looking case, a protective case, and a quality case.
I looked inside the box, and saw what had been my most anticipated arrival, second only to my iPhone 3G: a black caterina leather case with a dark blue stripe running down its center (good-looking case: check); The Vaja iVolution Top SP Holster for iPhone 3G. Immediately, I picked it up, took my iPhone out of the Griffin FlexGrip case it had been shamefully living in for over three weeks, and slipped it inside the SP. Or, at least, I tried to slip it in, but in reality I had to push down on the top of the phone hard for it to settle into place. For me, that was a good sign, because if it took my manly strength to get it in the case, then the case would not allow it to get out very easily, either (protective case: check).
I closed the front flap (protective case: double check) with a satisfying but muffled snap, and held the case at arm's length to admire the effect of the case in my hands, and noticed it was actually very slim despite the sturdy feel it gave off (good-looking case: double check). When I was done admiring it, I tested it out to see how easily I could get it out of my pocket, because it had been a pain to get the FlexGrip out, due to the grippy silicone. I slipped the soft leather in, and I slipped the soft leather out just as easily (quality case: check). That proved to me that the leather was quality, as the softness is really unrivaled by any other "leather" case I have had in the past for any of my cellphones. One thing to note, though, is even though it feels very soft, the leather itself is really solid and sure to protect your phone without any doubt (quality case: double check).
If I could say more about the case I would, but it met and surpassed my three expectations, and I really could not be happier with my purchase. Vaja earned themselves a regular customer for each year a new iPhone model comes out.
Good review, very arty! :D

To be honest, I don't really see any problems or differences in fit when using the older iVolution SP with the 3G iPhone. At least I can't tell from the photos.
The only thing I'm going to moan about after 8 days of using the case is that dust tend to be trapped along the sides. It's by no means a major flaw but I need to clean it every couple of days.
