iPod Connecting iPod to TV: full quality movies?

I was wondering if this is possible:

I have loads of movies (.mp4 - ripped with handbrake - appleTV quality) on my mac and i watch movies over at friends houses quite often.
Instead of burning a DVD each time or taking my laptop with me and hook it up to the TV, would it be possible to put some movies on my iPod Touch (about 2 - 3 gb per movie) , connect the ipod to the tv and watch the movie in full quality?

You can do it and get 480P output. required cable will depend on generation of ipod

480p ... is that good quality?

can a higher quality level be obtained with other ipod models?

480p is 640x480 resolution...

And no you can't get anything higher than that.

i use 640x480 (or a similar variant) on my widescreen 720p phillips 32" TV, works like a charms for most movies

480P is DVD quality. 640 x 480, or 720 x 480 for widescreen.
