Anyway to get "email notification balloon" to disappear on iPhone???

Every time I check an email on my iPhone, I delete the message and the notification doesn't go away. I have to refresh my mailbox a good 3 or 4 times to make the balloon disappear from the phone. Every other source works fine (Mac, MobileMe web app). This is extremely annoying and is my only gripe with the service at the moment. Is this a common occurrence and can it be fixed?

I have gotten that at times.

I usually go go out of the mailbox and open it again and if it doesn't, I exit out and try a 3rd time

Eventually it goes away after the 2nd-3rd time
