I'm looking for a way to elegantly connect my iPhone 3G to my car's Alpine headset (which uses an Ai-Net connector). I know the iPhone 3G dropped charging support over firewire, so I want to know if anyone has tried a cable like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ALPINE-Ai-NET-DIN-CABLE-2-RCA-CORD-420i-KCA-CD-MP3-iPOD_W0QQitemZ290247723097QQihZ019QQcategoryZ39750QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

And seen if it works for both audio and charging.

Thanks.

Yeh, mine works exactly the same as with my old iPod (pre touch), but it doesnt charge, and then of course you can charge with a car charger because the AiNet is using the port! I would go line in to the head unit.

Your best bet might be to ask over on the Crutchfield forums.. I have the older AI-Net cable and it does in fact not charge the phone, but everything else does work.
