Maybe I missed the boat here, but does anyone know the function of the 30 or so pins on the iPod dock connector?

None... yet. They're there for future expansion.

I kinda assumed they were intended for an unannounced feature. What I was surprised at is that I haven't heard any rumors as to what they might do. You'd think the rumor sites would be going nuts over the possibilities.

Maybe for high speed data transfer? Or USB 2.0 data rates? Possible FireWire 800 compatability? Lord knows.....

Who can say, I bet one the Boffins in Ive's Caravan of Love thought "Future proof the damn thing" and added a bunch of useless pins.
