I watched my father play a gig at a ritzy country club. My dad was once a jet-setting rock musician, but gave it up about 10 years ago. This was the first chance I had to see him play again on stage - which made the evening totally worthwhile!

a party at a friends house. got really plastered from beer, champagne, wine, rye, etc. . bought a load of fireworks and set a bunch in an old container filled with gasoline-soaked sand then shot a roman candle at the box from afar  it was sweeeet. then we popped the champagne at midnight and put some old metal, paper and fireworks in a microwave, turned it on and ran like the dickens. fell asleep on the floor sometime early morning, woke up without the face of my watch and with a dog i'd never seen before. that's about as much as i can remember right now, but i'm sure there was more than that :D

Stayed at home with my wife and daughter, but after the daughter went to sleep, I started an AIM chatroom in iChat and my wife and I (in Hawaii) invited in friends from Alaska, Malaysia, Japan and Italy, for our "countdown" to midnight. :)

Enjoyed the melodious sound of Oakland gunfire at midnight. Shots all over the place.

My friends who are part of the business team for my band rented a suite in Georgetown. We has a nice dinner with some wine...stopped at a bar on our way back to the hotel, had a few drinks. Went back to the hotel and had a few drinks. Went out to the club and..yes, had some drinks...hugged kissed and danced the new year in. I think it brings good luck to kiss a drag queen at midnight..I kissed several...hehe...got some grub..tried to get into the girl bar but they were closed..went back to the hotel...had some more champagne...talked for a while...crashed out... BEST NEW YEARS EVE IN A LONG TIME!!

went to a private party, but wasn't directly invited - so classed that as other.

at stroke of twelve people sang 'sweet chariot' so i learnt the tune of auld langs eyne or whatever it is called for nothing - thankfully as have no clue to the words.

Dec. 31st is my Birthday and this was the first time I spent the time with some friends instead of going somewhere with the folks. It was kinda nice. Now I know what normal, non-birthday people do.

2 more years and I can ring in the new year with chamagne (legally) ;)

My kids and I watched Casablanca at home. It's a family tradition. They are growing up so soon I'm sure it will change, but for now it is a glass of wine at home with the kids and Bogart and Bergman.

I went to downtown Santa Cruz and hung out there until about 10:30 which was about the time when a friends of mine was getting off work. We both headed out to this dyke party which lasted until about 5:00. It was fun although I left it with a feeling of "water water everywhere and not a drop to drink", there were a bunch of cute girls there (and several tranny boys) but nothing happened between me and anyone.

*sigh*

There was a bit of nudity though so it wasn't all bad...*giggle*

For me, I spent the evening at Denny's with a friend, who use to not want to be my friend anymore. Then she asked me back to her place and we watched a movie with her sister and joked around and listened to music, and such. Was a fun night, but akward comming from a friend who didn't want anything to do with me a month ago. lol

That definitely sounds like a lot of fun, danbirchall. A very unique way. You were able to celebrate across time zones. Did anyone have iSight?

had some friends over for a little party. collectively we went through over a quarter ounce of weed, as well as countless bottles of wine and champaign. We only got halfway through the meat and cheese mountain that was here, leaving me to wonder what i do with several pounds of rotting meat and cheese?

Is the Mug Root Beer supposed to signify "lots of booze"? :p
