As Vice President of Engineering for Mozilla, Mike managed the product development process that results in Firefox. Before joining Mozilla Corp., Mike was chief technology officer for Sun Microsystems’ data center automation division (“N1”). Most notably Mike was made a Distinguished Engineer, one of Sun’s highest technical accolades. He joined Sun as part of its acquisition of CenterRun, which Mike founded and served as its Chief Architect and Director of Engineering. Prior to starting CenterRun, Mike worked with several startups, including one where he built digital video effects software used in several major motion pictures. He holds both bachelors and master’s degrees in computer science from Stanford University and has filed two U.S. patents. In 2007, PC World to named Mike one of the Fifty Most Important People on the Web. In 2008 Laptop Magazine named him one of the 25 Most Influential People in Mobile Technology.

On July 28, 2008 Facebook announced that it hired Schroepfer as VP Engineering. He will start in September 2008.
