When you search for something...does it also search wasteland, just incase there is something relevant there?
curious...as to what wasteland is there for. Other than moving threads that have no relevance?...

Yes, Teh Wasteland™ is searched (according to my test)
And yes, it is for threads that are pointless, irrelevant and basically useless (or that lose focus)

If WildCowboy won't mind me quoting him from another thread from a bit earlier:
As for your question about the purpose of the Wasteland as opposed to deleting, it serves two purposes in my eyes: 1) It serves as a "what not to do" display to assist other users in making appropriate posts; and 2) It serves as entertainment value for some people, and leaving the threads visible but not counting towards posts and not able to be replied to makes them relatively harmless.
And yes, it's searched.

I'm sure you know how to quote from other posts in the same thread. To quote from another thread, just go to that thread and click "Quote" on the post you want to quote. When it opens the window to compose the post, just copy and then close that quoted post. Then go to the thread where you want to post and when you're composing that post, paste what you copied from the other thread. At least, that's how I do it. If there's a more efficient method, I'd love to know about it.
I haven't learned yet how to link to a single post and not the whole thread in which it appears.

1) To quote from another post you can simply go to that post, click quote, then cut and paste. So long as you don't change anything there shouldn't be an issue.
2) No idea. :)

To link to a single post, right click on the number in the upper right corner of the post and copy the link. For instance, you'd right click on the "#7" in the corner of this post.

You'll get better search results if you use MRoogle (http://mroogle.edesignuk.com/) to search the forums.

Mroogle is cool for sure but the new search now has google incorporated in it. I used to always use Mroogle since the old search feature was pretty bad

I still use MRoogle, since the built-in Google search doesn't have advanced features, such as preferred results per page, or date restrictions, etc.
