Can this work to get paid apps for free??

i was just wondering if anybody has tried it yet..
umm
i was looking in my Itunes folder.. and theres a folder named "Mobile Applications" and in there, there was the apps that i downloaded from the App Store... each app is IPA format. i was wondering, if someone send that file to someones e-mail, and they drag it to the applications section. will it work?

for example.

lets say a friend online has an iphone, and they bought Moocow, and i say i want that..but i dont want to pay for it... so he sends me the "moocow" file via email, and then i later place it in my Applications section.... will it work?? anyone wants to try it out?

No because you'll have to type in the itunes account name and password to actually use it.

Each protected file purchased from the iTunes store has that persons account name encoded in the file. This is how it knows if the computer it is copied to is authorized to use it or not.

Unless that person gives you their username and password, you won't be able to authorize your computer to use those apps.

If you can't afford the $0.99 app you shouldn't have bought the iPhone/Touch.

Skip a burger or get a nickel bag not a dime bag next time and buy it, someone somewhere spent a few houts making that app, throw them a bone.

Give him/her a break. I can totally empathize with this because let's face it, some of the apps are weak. I'm not stupid enough to pay $3 for iMilk, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't play with it for a day or two. Funny tho, what you brought up is actually what contributes to this. It would annoy me if my money, no matter the amount, went to some schmuck who put together a garbage app.

Unfortunately the big problem now is we may not know that something sucks until after we have bought it. I'm certainly not saying we should steal things but they really need to come up with some trial versions so people can test things out to see if it is worth it.

I doubt that will happen, there are many things in life that you cant try before you buy and I see Apps as being one of them. At least we have reviews that kinda help.

Trial versions will come. Be patient. The App Store is still a newborn. It's only been around for a couple of weeks. Prices are already being changed by developers based on feedback, competition, and App popularity. The developers will figure it out if enough people bring it to their attention. Things just need to settle down in the store.

FWIW, there already are some trial versions: Labyrinth Lite Edition is one example.

I doubt that will happen, there are many things in life that you cant try before you buy and I see Apps as being one of them. At least we have reviews that kinda help.

Another thing you have to buy before you try from Apple is headphones. At the Apple store, they have displays of limited selections including a few standard Bose headphones and their own white earbuds. First off, do you expect me to stick some earbud into my ear after it's been touched by thousands of people and has turned brown instead of white. Second, instead of comparing headphones, reps told me to buy both, open both packages in the store, decide then, and return what I don't like. (keep in mind that their stores are still loaded with people that are looking to buy an iPhone or asking if you get a free Apple (fruit) if you buy something there) LOL

I'm thinking, you've got to be kidding me! That is just ridiculous!!! They will end up repackaging fewer things if they let me try before I buy. Sorry that this is off topic, but I think that this policy is outrageous, especially since you have no place to try out the products and only have 2 weeks to return them if you don't like them. Just so you know... Apps and games have already been cracked with the drm removed. All my so far are bought - but theres a simple method with a jailbroken 2.0 phone.

ok, if you know someone else with an iPhone that purchased/downloaded the app, why not just try it on their iPhone???? It is working fine on their device or else it wouldn't make it to their iTunes folder so just borrow their phone for a sec and play with the app!! Or ask them if they like it/would recommend it and if they recommend it and it is junk, don't trust their opinion anymore :p

Just to add to the hypothetical steps for what would be required to pull this off, the reason you need their iTunes ID/password is that your computer needs to be authorized on their account... You can only have 5 computers authorized on your account at once so you would be eating up one of your friends' authorizations... This probably would not be a huge deal to most people (how many computers do you really need authorized at a time) however if you plan on swapping apps with more than one person like this you guys might run out of auths...

If he authorizes your computer, then it should work...be lucky that it works that way instead of tie to just one account and one account only.

By the same token, would you be happy purchasing a new set of headphones knowing they had been used by others beforehand? No. For hygiene reasons it's just not possible.
This forum (http://www.head-fi.org/) is very useful for helping select headphones. They'll tell you what's worth buying.

You know those people who complain the 80gig ipod isn't big enough for their music libraries...if you purchased that many songs from itunes it would cost thousands of dollars.

That's not the point, is it? One can see the reviews and understand that it's crap, but still want to play with it for 20 minutes. It's the principle of paying someone for something that you know is half-assed. Trial versions that delete themselves after a day or two would be great.

*here is 2 cents*You do reqalize that there are legal ways to get that much music right? I have over 500 gigs of music, all of it legally obtained. There are many bands out there that allow taping and trading of their shows. You don't need to buy music for it to always be legal.
