I've got a MacBook and the power-brick gets stupidly hot when charging.

I had it on a worktop the other day and it got so hot it turned the varnish tacky and stuck to it!

How hot should it get? and how can I measure the surface temp?

Mine gets pretty hot sometimes, specially if I'm using the computer in a place where there's no AC (I'm in the caribbean, so the air temperature is usually pretty hot)

Yes it will get hot especially if you're using you computer and charging the battery.

They always get very hot. My MB is relatively new to me, but with my last laptop (Acer), the adapter could practically burn me... it seemed unnaturally hot but apparently it's quite normal indeed. Just try to keep it off any damageable surfaces!

Okay, I guess I didn't worry then, thanks guys.

Well I'm not bothered about the work-top, but I did fall asleep a few weeks back, roll over onto the power-brick and wake up with a slow cooked patch on my back!
