So...
Im planning on buying the Montevina MBP
but...
if its gonna have some kinda bs keyboard (black chiclet)
or...
If they're gonna round the edges and make it look hideous...

then i don't want it

Choice 1:
buy now and be happy when they release a p.o.s laptop

Choice 2:
wait... and get an amazing piece of art

Choice 3:
Wait to see if i like it
If i do... buy it
If i don't... buy the prev. gen from the clearance store

the thing is...
What is a better deal
when the macbook pros are put in the clearance store
or a student discount???

i would say clearance store because you only get like what 200$ off of it with the student discount? i think that the clearance will be alot better because they are trying to get rid of the old ones to make room for the new ones.....thats just my opinion!

If they're gonna round the edges and make it look gay

Just FYI, using the word "gay" as a disparaging adjective is not something we do around here in the forum

If they're gonna round the edges and make it look effeminate...

You think that rounded edges would look good on a full size laptop?!?!

AND

You think black chiclet keys look good?!?!

I like the Macbook keyboards and so what if the corners are rounded?

At least I don't use deragoatory words to try and get my point across, those are your issues.

@OP: Option 1

effeminate is still a derogatory term...

Who says? Effeminate could also be neutral or even complimentary. In this case, I take it not as "all effeminate things are bad" but that the OP simply doesn't want a more effeminate product than the current model. Doesn't mean s/he thinks anything effeminate is inherently bad...

That's a question of taste, not derogation. Just my $.02.

Except the OP used a different word in the first place than effeminate.

YOU have issues if YOU believe what you're typing

You're claiming that your personal tastes meet the tastes of all MacBook Pro users. Your fallacy is funny.

This isn't a "we" thing. It's a "you". Your argument only applies to YOU, and in reading it, I suggest that you wait. You will either get the current design (if the new one "sucks" by your standards) or the newer design if it is good (again by your standards)

I agree with you in terms of both keyboard design and tapering. Now that I have used both keyboards, I can say that I (personally) favor the current one just slightly. I don't care what Apple puts out. I also believe that giving the MacBook Pro undue tapering is stupid. This will also not stop me from buying a 17" Nehalem MacBook Pro when they come out.

If you hate it as much as you say, then do what you're already planning to do and buy the current model for less once the new ones come out, but DON'T claim that your tastes (and, now ashamedly, mine) match those of everyone in the market.

Except the OP used a different word in the first place than effeminate.

I think that WinterMute is the one who changed it to that, but I could very easily be wrong.

lol Tallest Skil

i do agree on the fact that it is MY taste
not the whole mac community

but...
i still think that those two things would make the computer look ridiculous
It looks so elegant and beautiful right now

I see that you are 16, IIRC the student discount is for college students only.

Only if you take it for negative. Gay = Happy long before Gay = Homosexual.

Well that was up to the person typing it and he sure didnt make it out to be that it meant happy. So I dont think anyone misinterpreted what he was saying.

Which is why i trust apple to release a good looking computer

I'll end up buying it whether i like the design or not
it'll be something i can live with

besides, im not waiting because of a case redesign
im waiting for better fsb, processor speed, RAM, etc.

I don't like the looks of the mba, but its still a decent looking computer
just because its so thin:):):)

Murphy's law plays a role in our logic here also our want to have a perfect machine.

If we buy now, the new machine will be everything we hoped it would be

If we wait, the new machine will be exactly opposite of what we want, and we will be punching ourselves over it.

Also, part of it is to be able to say for the next 6 months "My macbookpro is the newest model'

If it runs well and does so for long periods of time, I hope Apple continues making them look as gay as possible.;)

really you can say its the newest model for quite a while. most people can't decipher a 06 macbook from the current macbook because the design is similar. When the new design comes out it will most likely become the standard for another 3 years or so
