photoshop canvas action question

hi guys...

what i need to be able to do as an action is make the canvas a square...

if an image is 200x400 i need it to become 400x400, if its 230x280 i need 280x280 see? whichever dimension is bigger, i want the other dimension increased to the same...

i've been playing but cant work out a technique for this... any ideas?

I know you can use the increase canvas size option, but I have no idea if you can make it an action that will resize it for you. If I was in front of my Mac, I'd try it out, but I'm stuck at work. :mad:

cant you just just create a batch automation? just open one, record the step of resizing the canvas then stop it. When you go to batch process I believe there is a formula for saving them. I hope this helps, I havnt tried this exact process.
