How did they do Po’s hair? I want to create a tennis ball for this commercial gig one of my friends invited me to participate in. I want the ball to have this texture, any hints?

No idea, but I do know someone semi-important at Paramount's head office that may know someone who knows the answer. ;) My friend even went to the premiere. This friend isn't a very technically-minded person, so even if she's told something complex, she may explain it in a really simplified way that isn't good enough for you.

Like I said, at Paramount. Not sure if that means my friend can find out the answer since this is a hair animation question, which seems rather specialized. There's a chance that an animator can better explain this to you. Have you tried an animation forum?
