[update] - We recently moved to self-hosted web-space and bought a premium blogging theme after receiving in excess of 10.000 in traffic between July and August.

Updated daily - for now.

I've been meaning to start a blog for a while, so I did, yesterday.

I'm only using a free account, until I have enough time to take it into PHP and CSS editing, but any critique and comments are welcome.

More to come regarding, Apple (iPhone, iPod, App Store reviews etc ..), me, general tech and random photo blogging.

Thanks,

R-Fly

Thanks very much, glad you like it.

I do plan to update it daily, barring disaster.

And thanks for the link, much appreciated.

In terms of web development or design? Can you be more specific as to your question, please?

I'm generally looking for critique/comments of layout and content.

I plan to expand on the blog with custom CSS in the near future.

Thanks,

R-Fly

Considering that you're on wordpress.com not .org, there's not much you can do about the design, can you:confused:

And every thing's fine as far as content is concerned! A blog is meant to express an individual's feelings. Just make sure that there's a bit of 'YOU' in every post that you publish! There are news sites and rumors sites like MR for official business!:)

Right, if you can't do much to change the window dressing (i.e. customizing themes as someone here hinted with the .com vs. org comment as being limited) then the power of the site must come from you, the blogger.

I agree with the other user in terms of the review, well done.

Quick note about blogging in general - anyone who sets up a blog should not allow comments are ratings of their blog. Traditional blogging, which stems from the original weblog, refers to the personal unsolicited diatribe of the site author intended for public consumption only. Much like a diary or a journal. The moment developers got involved and added commentary and ratings is when traditional blogging become low end FORUMS. Forums are interactive and intended to bring people together by allowing discussion on topics in a well organized manner.

So I say continue the rare art of a traditional blog - meaning you say it, be proud of it, and don't give a damn about what other people think about it. Your words are the focus of the site, not the graphics, the themes, the layout and the social networking aspects. Those things are still important in the sense you want your blogs easily readable, searchable, well organized and presented well from a navigational aspect - but the content of the site, the HEART of it, the YOU as another responder so wisely mentioned, is all about your words and what you have to say in this world.

Thanks a lot for the inspirational drive guys,

Much appreciated.

So far, I've managed to publish 2-3 read-worthy articles a day. I have a lot of free time on my hands at the moment,
so hopefully I can keep it up, and hopefully it will develop into a read-worthy place on the net - here's hoping.

At the moment, my 'Lost Land of the Jaguar (Pt1/3)' article seems to be getting the most attention.

I personally think you should have more definition between the post. Like some kind of line break design or bolder titles. Maybe its just me lol

Theme?

I wasn't sure what your theme was? I gather you have an interest in apple. I often find people come back if you specialise on one subject and it's actually in the title somewhere.

As an example I've called my "Terry, a photographer's journal".

To be honest, I don't have a theme.

Basically, whatever I feel like blogging about, I do.

Currently it's Tech / Nature / Random - I'm sure as the blog progresses, one of these topics will become dominant over the others,
and at that time I can think about tailoring the blog to that one subject.

Regarding the naming choice, I purposely named the blog 'RazorianFly :]' so it would stand out :)

Thanks for advise, much appreciated.

More importantly, thanks for visiting the blog!
