I wish there was an app that had various exercises and a chart where you could track your lifting stats. I realizes Notes would work but typing all that in is a hassle and would be easier to look at in chart format.

I've really been hoping for something like this. Something that will help you keep track of what you've done while you are working out and then store it so you can look back at what you've done.

ya know, there is a lot of "data" I would love to keep track of on my iPhone and be able to export in a nice, spreadsheet-friendly csv file... weight, daily run stats and a bunch of other stuff... I grabbed iDB because I thought it would let me create my own custom databases and forms and stuff so I could track all the random stuff I wanted but it doesn't really allow any customization...
I have programming and database experience so I am very strongly considering shelling out the $99 to become a developer... For now I'm trying to figure out the language and play in the SDK but I am keeping a list of apps I might make if I do bite the bullet and pay the $$.. What are some of the things you would want to see in a fitness app if I ever get that far? I'm thinking like spaces for date, time, activity, duration, distance/reps/laps... Maybe even how you feel afterwards (exhausted, satisfied, could have done more, etc)... What do you guys think?

No, but I'm hoping that Apple will release a version of iWork that can be used on the iPhone.

Have you seen my plea to spam DataViz?? They make an app called Documents to Go that lets you view/edit documents and spreadsheets and view presentations... The support MS Office files including 2007 and I'm 99% sure they support the Apple equivalents (sorry I'm new to Mac so I'm not sure what the iLife apps are called :( ) Please visit this link tell them to develop for the iPhone as well!!

I would love an app like this, no more notebook at the gym and the ability to keep track over time would be tremendous.

I've just been using Notes for the past year. Works pretty well, but I had to buy PhoneView to export them from my iPhone.

an app like this would be pretty cool. I might even be willing to drop some small change for something like this. Especially if it was simple and quick to use and had something like a graph or chart to show your improvement over time... Just a thought...
I have my iPhone with me in the gym listening to music anyways, so why not kill two birds with one stone, and make it a workout log also!

I was just thinking about how much I would love an app like this.. I've been e-mailing myself my workouts but I would really love to keep a more efficient log of them, etc.
Hopefully we will see this soon.

That's what I do too but it's such a hassle. Any devs out there?

I very much want such an App, for me it would need to include the following:
Ability to input stats such as Sets, Reps etc with details of actual weight lifted, whether that was to pre-determined rep numbers or to 'failure'.
To be able to attribute the above details to equipment, whether that be particular free weights or 'machines'.
Equipment/machines and free weights selectable from stored designs within the app but also customisable to add in that one piece of equipment YOU use but no-one else does!
In addition i would like to see the ability to record body weight movement stats, calories burn't, distance covered for those cardio workouts etc and be able to record consumption as well - such as calories, protein, fibre etc.
All the above to be easily turned into charts/graphs etc
Would love to see an app like the above and would certainly pay.
Probably asking way too much tho!

Unbelievable..............
NOTICE TO EVERYBODY:
Gyminee.com is a website for workout enthusiasts that has an iPhone specific page. Once you sign up for their (free) website from your computer, you can access their site from your phone at the gym and input how much weight you lifted, how many reps you did, how many miles you ran, how long you ran, what your BPM was during your run, how intense the workout is.......whatever the hell you want. Gyminee is friggin awesome and I'm honestly surprised more people don't know about it.
When you join, add me as a gymbuddy. I go by the name "SonOfKrypton".

And I forgot to note, many gyminee users have convinced the owners to start developing a native app, which they have agreed to. For those w/o a signal in their gym, I'd understand why they'd want this. But for those with a signal in the gym, even with the native app, I can imagine no more of a ideal way of inputting various gym data on the spot than a web app. This is a near perfect system guys...Give it a shot.

Except for those of us with iPod touches instead of iPhones. If they do indeed develop a native app, that'd be different, but for now I'm still hoping for an application instead of a webapp that will allow me to maintain this without wifi available.

Awesome. Thanks dude.
Used it today, I really like it. It does everything you would do with a notebook just on your phone.. the website says there will be updates to add calorie counting, etc. so it is well worth the $4.99.

I just found this thread so I doubt anyone is still looking at it. But I'm the developer of Fit Phone. I wish I would have found this sooner but oh well. I'm glad people have found Fit Phone so useful and I hope you've enjoyed how much it's evolved over the months.
If you have any features that you want to see please let me know.

Can you all give a try to egoFITNESS?
It's not a simple fitness tracking, but it's also creates training scheduling based on your profile.
I've sent to Apple the latest 1.2 version which also adds a lot of things (stats for body weight and so on).
If you are interested I still have some codes for the 1.1 release. 1.2 should arrive soon. Write me (ecstaticax@gmail.com)
Regards.
PS In Italy it's the #1 fitness app: it's based on the technical consultancy of Leo Caminotto, 2 times Europe Body Building Champion and #2 Mr. Universe in 1997.
