i don't want to be nosy either, but since starting to post at MR back in June, you've done nothing but sell stuff - sometime, very expensive stuff.
i'd clarify what is that you do and how/why you obtain these machines every few weeks and selling/trading them.
"bad occurances lately" doesn't cut it when you do this every few weeks for 6+ months.
with an onslaught of scams out there, i hope you wouldn't be offended that i point these out.

Jan 9, 2004, 02:46 PM
Well i have recieved these machines through work, but really found them unnecessary, and have gotten their allowance to sell them, and since i really need the money, i am seeling them.
These are not scams in any way shape or form.
If you want protection, i will use www.escrow.com as long as you pay the fees!
I am not sure how else to tell you these are not scams, since they are not
jxyama
Jan 9, 2004, 03:11 PM
again, not to be picky, but if you need $$$, what's with trading offers?
you must work for one heck of an interesting/strange company if they give you a fully spec'ed machine every few weeks and give you the option of selling them if you don't need it.
anyway, good luck with your sale. if you really need the money fast, i'd put up the price using escrow. since you didn't pay for them, what's the loss of few hundred bucks in escrow fee to speed up the selling process?
akushlan
Jan 9, 2004, 03:20 PM
Ill agree to split the escrow fee with anyone who wants to do that
I cant go too low, since i did pay a portion for these laptops as a "punishment" for selling them
and i can trade them possibly for something that more peopel want to buy, people maynot want to go all out for these maxed out laptops, since they may be too far out of their price range

Let me get this straight your company lets you sell these machines cause you need the money, WOW COOL PLACE TO WORK FOR..
No offense but I will tell you straight out either your selling hot machines or its a set-up...
My advice to my mac community friends pass...
and yes I am selling a machine also but I guarantee that whoever buys mine will post great things of my transaction.
Ive been scammed for alot cash and it hurts.... Dont be like me friends

I've got a dual 2.0 for auction on Spymac that I'd trade for it. I could throw in the 19" monitor 2nd gen apple airport base station Logitech MX700 mouse and silver JBL creature speakers.
Edu. discount at apple comes out to $2699 and 2 gigs of ram can be had for $600. Applecare is $250.

If he's been selling things from June, and if he was scamming them since then, don't you think we would have heard about it by now? I dont think someone would just forget about $3000+. And if he was found scamming on MR, I think he would be booted off. And he's willing to use Escrow. What's the problem. If I had the money, I would buy it. And if he scammed me, i would get the AFA (American Fraud Association) and the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mountie Police) on his a$$.

Actually, this guy has been scamming. And it's always the same story, too.
Someone paid him, and then he never sent it. So they got the law on him, and it took a while, but I think they got their money back.

You know, I don't know if you are right or wrong. But if you make such a serious accusation such as this, you better provide some proof.
I'm not sure why you should mess him with dirt on his own thread, and i don't understand why we should just take your word over his.

Is this why you aren't just Ebaying this?
http://forums.macrumors.com/search.php?searchid=49148
... is a lot of stuff to sell
Not crapping on your thread buddy... just posting info that a potential buyer should see. Not everyone reading these forums is guaranteed to know about scams on the net, especially with regards to Apple equipment.
Now all buyers can see your past history (just like on Ebay) and make up their minds as to your reliability.

My eBay account was suspended because there was fraudulent use of my account, so i told them to stop that account (someone racked up a huge bill selling stuff illegally under my name). This has been settled and i am already re-registered on eBay under another username
Maybe you should have asked this before just making a wild accusation.
I am offering the strongest method of protection i know, HOW IS IT POSSIBLE TO SCAM THROUGH WWW.ESCROW.COM????

there are people over at spymac who will vouch for him, as he does the same thing over there.
Of the past years i've spent watching what happens on the various apple fs/t forums, nothing has led me to believe that aksushlan is a scammer(he's sold a lot of items between the forums), rather he is just buying/selling computers on these boards to make a profit.

I have a hunch that the link he provides to the escrow service is part of the scam.
People go through the supposed escrow service.. and find out that it's a fraud as well.
There was a Dateline or 60 Minutes (or something similar) on TV just a few weeks ago - and they were alerting viewers to the fact that scammers are setting up fake and/or mirror sites of legitimate sites and giving them similar names, etc. - but in the end they are scams.
I would suggest that if anyone buys from this guy that they FLY OUT and meet him in person and physically pick up the computer. Heck, if it's such a great deal - then the cost of the flight would be worth it - or if you're within a few hours drive, it would be easy as well.
I "uncovered" a similar scam for a supposed guy in Iowa, who was trying to see a PowerBook last month. He said it would be shipped from Iowa, where his parents lived - well, I have family all over the state and offered to go have it picked up. ALL of a sudden, he whistled a different tune and said that his parents couldn't meet up, one was travelling, working.. whatever..

that's very good advice, but I think you jumped the gun.
www.escrow.com is recognized (and i think even owned in part) by ebay as the only legitimate online escrow service.
see: here (http://pages.ebay.com/help/confidence/payment-escrow.html)
i wouldn't recomend anything else.

please don't post such a serious allegation on your hunch alone. the link he provided goes to www.escrow.com. there's no hunch - that is *the* escrow service to use online.
while i have questions about the source of all the Macs he has, i don't question that he's actually selling things he says he is.

DUH. Why would he want to trade you for a lesser machine and a couple a hundred bucks? And if he wanted a powerbook, why wouldn't he keep his?
He wants to S-E-L-L.

Good luck, akushlan.
