Im in the process of buying an iPhone but with the plan I am buying I recieve 500mb each month for free.

I dont want to have the 500mb, use it, and be in fear of going over and paying 35 cents per mb i use. -_-

Does anyone know if I can put a quota on how much internet I can use either through the iPhone itself or through say the phone company that I will get the iPhone from?

Any Help will be greatly appreciated.

Check with your service provider.
AT&T offers a limits plan where you can set a maximium for data / text / minutes and even limit who can and cannot call your number. It's an extra $5 a month, I think.

AT&T is the cellular service provider Apple contracted with in the US.

Guessing that you are using Vodafone given that you are in Australia.
Not sure if this link has the answer but it might get close: http://vodafone.com.au/personal/mobilebroadband/pricing/index.htm
