Grayed out Apps / not syncing

The iphone is great. Almost everything is working... basically Application don't seem to be syncing. I've downloaded some fun apps from iTunes, into iTune, on my Mac laptop, and they won't install on the phone. If I go into itunes directly on the phone, I can install - but I have to have a wi-fi signal available, so it's awkward to find something while I'm browsing around on my computer, and then have to run to the iphone to search for it, in order to install.

Ideas?

I had this exact same problem, and DUDE! It's frustrating! This thread (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1599782) helped me fix it though: In Settings, I had enabled restrictions when I was playing around with the iPod when I first got it, and I didn't realize what I did, because I didn't have WiFi at first. Hope this helps!
