How do I turn on backup for iphone

I just did a sync with itunes and cannot find where you turn on the backup feature. Can someone tell me please, and does this backup contacts and calendars even if I am hooked up thru Mobile Me?

It stores contacts and calendars everytime you sync. The backup is a wholly different feature that is usually automatically performed during the first sync of the day.

Thanks, I hope that it works because 1000 contacts is a lot to loose.

To turn off backup just close iTunes and open Terminal and enter:


defaults write com.apple.iTunes DeviceBackupsDisabled -bool true

Change true to false to turn back on.
