My Gps/My location wont work on iphone 3g!

Right i've had the iphone 3g since launch!

Im getting really annoyed as when i locate myself on google maps, it just loads and loads, and never finds my location, my normal iphone finds me in 30 seconds or so!!

Ive restored my phone twice now, and location services is turned on!!

Do you reckon my local o2 shop will swap for a new one over the counter? or will i have to phone or go to a apple shop!!
