How do I create DVD from iMovie that can be viewed on a standard DVD player?

I've created a movie of my daughter crawling, but can't seem to get the DVD to work on a standard player. Tried saving as a ".m4v" and a ".mov" to my desktop, but neither works outside of my iMac.

I know it's a remedial question... but I need help! The in-laws are in town this weekend and they want a copy to watch at home!
