jawbone 2 sounds terrible with 3g iphone

I recently purchased a new jawbone 2 and first tried it with my orig iphone and then with my 3g replacement iphone.. people complain sometimes my voice is static sounding... I know you need to keep the sound sensor against your face but with my short beard it still sounds bad...I have tried several jawbone 2 and have repaired and also done a network reset ...any ideas

this is kind of unrelated, but another problem with the jawbone 2. it keeps disconnecting my wifi. take a look.

its because apple wants you to buy a new pair for the iphone 3g

I bought mine from Best Buy last week and it works great.
