hey guys ..just got the 3g 16..and was gonna give my old iphone to my lil sis ..shes not gonna activate it just wants to use it as a touch...just wanted to know if i format it in the settings do i lose all the apps that ive put on there already as well? im assumin so

Yes, formatting the phone will erase everything. As a reminder, this process will take a couple hours with the 2.0 software.

no way to retain the apps ive purchased?
is there a way to just clear the emails/contacts/history etc on there

yeah. just delete the mail accounts and unsync your contacts through itunes.

You can transfer your apps to your Mac/PC then just sync them to the phone after your restore it. Just like music.

so if i go to settings and say erase all content and settings
then resync and add apps that i have on my itunes
that will work?

Just make sure they are in your iTunes library before you erase the phone and you'll be fine.
