Coming from Mac Planet, the review might seem slightly biased. But the reviewers do point out the good and bad points. I do like my iPhone, but I'm finding it much more power hungry on the Internet than my Touch was. After only 1/2 hour or so of surfing, the battery gets 1/4 depleted whether it's on WiFi or EDGE. (I haven't tried surfing on 3G yet.)
I've also had repeated instances of applications (whether Apple's or ones from the App Store) freezing up or having major hiccups. Zen Pinball (which I love) completely seized the iPhone upon starting one time. I had to hold the Home and Power buttons for quite a while before the iPhone rebooted. There's also that strange interface hesitation when touching things. (i.e.: touching a contact's name appears to produce nothing. The a few seconds later the name turns blue and it switches to the detail screen.)
And there seems to be a bug when if you touch a contact's ringtone (to bring up the list of ringtones), and then touch a different ringtone sound, the new ringtone gets assigned even though the contact isn't in edit mode.
I'd also like to be able to save notes to my computer. And of course copy-and-paste would be a big help. And tethering....
But all of these things can be fixed with software updates, and I'm sure most will be. Overall, this is one of the most amazing electronic devices I've ever had the pleasure of using.

I had the original iPhone for almost a year. This one seems slow. Safari is really buggy - as I am typing this the screen is jumping to the bottom of the page and to the top with every keystroke. Sometimes safari just crashes, and many times the keyboard is painfully slow to respond. I didn't have any of these problems on the original version. Of course I love the GPS and the 3g, but even without the 3g enabled it seems to drain the battery faster. I'm waiting for a firmware and software upgrade. Don't get me wrong, I am the biggest fan of Apple (used Macs exclusively since 1988) but I'm a little dissapointed in this release.

Overall, I love it but I do find it to be glitchier than the original and the 3G network really isn't the most reliable, either it's slow or just plain disappears at times but the pros still outweigh the cons by far!!! :apple:

At first the iphone was sluggish and buggy. But now that all (3 pages) of software that I have on it is updated it's quite a bit faster and doesn't crash much anymore. It's still buggy and slow and sometime a pain in the ass, but it's all a software update away so I'm happy for now.:o

I really hope they address the sluggishness of the phone, before the 2.0 software it was just the SMS app that was slow to load, but now the sluggishness seems to have spread. By the looks of it, everyone is experiencing it so hopefully it's addressed soon.

Its universal problem and it should have been fixed already. Almost 3 weeks now with buggy 2.0 software. Just unacceptable. We've been hearing about 2.0 for months and its buggy?! What?! And not just minor bugs, actual PROCESSOR SLOWDOWN. Totally unexpected, totally unacceptable.
Like I said, should have been fixed already. The iPhone software team at Apple should be embarassed and should have come in to work that Sat. and Sun. following release, knowing they had serious bugs to iron out by Monday. Of course, this did not happen and 3 weeks later we are just hearing about the first update being seeded to developers. Seeded to developers? Are you kidding? You had no problem releasing buggy software, now you have to spend another 1- 2 weeks testing the fix!
I ranted like this for one reason: We seem to forget that a few years ago, Apple would have considered such a failure to be unacceptable, too.

I think I like my new iPhone 3g, but I am noticing some pretty big issues. The antenna is much too weak to keep service, the systems keeps freezing up and when I dial out, most of the time it takes several attempts to make calls...:(

How can you even like the 3G if you're having that many problems? See if you can exchange it!
