I am currently using AT&T with my Iphone 3G, but sometimes I would like to not use the Iphone and take an older Samsung Sync I have lying around. The Sync is easier to stick in the pocket and forget and not worry about like I would with the Iphone. I know I can swap SIM cards (as they are both 3G phones - the Iphone is using the old Sync's SIM card). My question is, can I get a SIM card reader and an extra SIM card and copy the info from the one card to the other? Then I could turn one phone off and the other on and use it without switching all the time.

Your line-of-service is tied to a specific SIM serial number. You can't have two different SIMs active on the same line of service, so you would have to clone the SIM and that is not legal. The SIM reader device is used to move the SIM contents between SIMs.
