I'm going to hopefully be purchasing a new iPhone this week. I currently have a different provider. Should I go to an ATT store or an Apple store?

Also, for those that know. How do I go about keeping my same phone number?
 
Just tell them you want to port your number over. This will automatically cancel you're account with your current provider.

Oh yeah, you probably have a better chance of acquiring an iPhone at the Apple store. I'm still on day 3 of my 14-20 day wait 🙁 but I don't know how porting works at the Apple store, or how if it works.
 
Go to the store that is closet but be sure to call to see their availability

If you have an Apple Store near you, check its availability of iPhones on the apple web-site

If you have an AT&T store you are going to, call them to see if they have iPhones available OR you can direct fullfill there
