Should i get the 2.8 or the 3.06 I will be upgrading memory when i get it.

As I know the 3.06 comes with a better gfx card and more hd space but is it worth the extra?

It depends on what you're doing. If you're going to squeeze the computer of everything it has to offer, grab the 3.06 model. If you're going to be gaming, you might be better off getting the 2.8 model with a bumped up GPU, HDD and RAM.

If you want you can select the 2.8 and custom it as the 3.06 if you want the ATi (which is very similar in power atm) as well as the smaller 320gb HDD.

But i would of though the 512 GFX card is faster than the 256 that the ati do?ß

For 3D games GeForce is about 2x as fast. For everything else its slightly slower than Radeon.

So your saying the Radeon will be better for me than GeForce for photography work?? I would of though the extra memory would help or am i missing somthing here?

Memory =/= performance.

The only photography app that currently uses graphics card is Aperture and it runs faster with Radeon, because nVIDIA drivers $uŠk $h1t

See for yourself: http://barefeats.com/imp04.html

On that page there are some test results of iMacs with both Radeons and Geforces running various Core Image apps.

the ati is better for you at the moment, but if you plan on upgrading to snow leopard, the nvidia will prove a much better buy in the long run.

Are you saying snow leopard wont run on the ATI as good as the Nvidia? When should snow leopard release what different will it be. Also what would ATI be better for me at the moment ? would Nvidia be no good then or i just wont see the different?

There doesn't look to be a new version of the iMac anytime soon...

Tbh, I would go with the 2.8 and upgrade the ram and the hdd, the current card in there should be good enough for you! :D
