Phone not recieving e-mails

I have a gmail account on my iphone. Whenver I recieve any mail in my account, the phone does not display it. I have to manually check my mail each time.. Any workarounds???

thats how it is supposed to work

gmail does not support push

you will need to set mail to check automatically, every 15 minutes is the shortest time I think, but it reduces battery life
