Am I obligated to only Apple accessories when using a Mac product?

I'll be a first time mac owner hence my limited knowledge about Mac... I was wondering if accessories such as wireless mouse, keyboard, speakers would have to be made by Apple in order to be compatible for a Mac product such as a MacBook.

HEEEEEEEECKKKKk no.

We have a combination of Kensington and Logitech mice. Keyboard's, as long as it has a USB or bluetooth or even a wireless usb adapter it should work right out the box. Those funky and often times crappy made 'Mac' compatible software that comes with such devices is most of the time not needed.

Speakers? shooot, an audio jack is an audio jack whether it's for a computer or home stereo. I have a sound blaster extigy which I bought for my windows system years ago. I use a optic cable to connect my iMac to it and it sound great. My wife will use some cheap 10 dollar speakers from stables for her MB when she's watch a movie sitting at her desk.

You are absolute right. I tend to lean towards Apple accessories, but I use all kinds of things on my Mac. Heck I have an XBox 360 connected to and apple monitor and a Mac Pro. Gasp.
 
No... although you get better support (tech support) from people that know that whole system thoroughly. I also tend to lean towards Apple accessories, since they have great customer support. It's your decision.
 
yeah..support is key. I lean towards apple accessories because if i have a problem...booom..im in the apple store.. With any other product..you have a problem..tough luck
 
Everybody here is right.

But, I'm a looser and do the opposite.
I have a really nice Windows Desktop (not made by dell) but I use an Apple Cinema Display, Apple keyboard, and Apple mighty mouse.

I was tempted to do the same thing back in my windows a.k.a crash/freeze days... 😀
 
I don't know if RAM counts as an accessory, but you can buy third-party RAM for Macs. I always do because Apple overcharges for RAM.
