What forms of advertising within apps is Apple allowing into the App Store?
Popup Safari links in the app, ad copy on the apps startup screen, or what?
What services can provide the ads? And how much are they paying per impression?

I'm thinking of tagging one of my apps with a small bit of advertising and making it "free", instead of making it a paid app and charging $0.99.

Thanks!

I would assume that they do not allow advertising, as I have yet to see an app with any, and any app that has popup links to Safari would be one annoying application. See if there are any terms in the fine print of the SDK.

See Ad Supported iPhone Games Coming Soon (http://www.macrumors.com/iphone/2008/07/21/ad-supported-iphone-games-coming-soon/).

Advertising-supported software is indeed another model for developers and consumers to consider.

It's allowed, I think the New York Times app uses it now.

The Twitter application has a free version that's ad supported.
