Looking at this RAM from NewEgg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134046) for my (previous gen) Mac Pro.
All this stuff matches what came with my machine:
240-Pin
DDR2 SDRAM
DDR2 667 (PC2 5300)
That's pretty much all I need to know, right? If that stuff all matches what's in there now, it should work?

Hmm... Don't you need to know is it Buffered or Un-Buffered?

Good question. I don't know. That's why I'm asking here.
How does one tell?
Maybe I should have just asked one of those "will this work with my..." questions instead of trying to understand all of this. :)

I always goto crucial (http://crucial.com/) to check. Usually when i enter the model and system info and click search or in this case "find it" it'll give you a detail break down of the type of RAM you'll need.
I can tell you, IF it's a 2008 MacPro 5400 Series, then you'll need Fully Buffered ECC memory modules.... However, if it's the other one, then I can't help you - Sorry!

Seems like its more compatible with the Powermac g5's than macpro.
doesnt appear that is is buffered at all. from the specifications
and there are no included/apple supported heatsinks ...
try these, better values and deals:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2153340551+1327823907&name=240-Pin+DDR2+FB-DIMM
most have the heatsinks and are ECC Fully Buffered memory
I recently got these for my macpro 2.66:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208200
(if you get that, make your sure you get 2 for matching pairs)
