Has anyone else has this problem. All my mail prior to August 5th has been deleted!
I have thousands of email that is crucial for my business and myself! I'm freaking out here and Google has no email to directly contact them regarding the issue.
Does anyone know where I can contact them?

Have you tried searching your email (through the browser at gmail.com) in case they've just been archived?

I had it backed up on my other Mac. I just sold my Macbook yesterday, now I was going to sync it again with my mail and I only get the limited number of results

That explains it - once you've downloaded something to a client (Mail.app) once, it won't download it again - if you want to get the rest of your mail go to gmail.com and log in there, I'm fairly sure you'll have it all there!

I am checking on the web version. Theres nothing there. There has been dozens of these problems reported, I just wanted to know if anyone here had a similar problem

1. Go to gmail.com
2. Log in
3. Go to Settings
4. Go to Forwarding and POP/IMAP
5. Under POP Download, select "Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded)"
6. Go to mail.app, Get Mail.
Edit: Didn't see your most recent post. If mail isn't on the web version either then you have a bigger problem.

If you use pop, you may accidentally not set the 'leave a copy on the server' setting and end up deleting everything from the server when you download them to your computer or phone.

I mean, I'm not trying to sound mean because I completely sympathize with you, but for informational purposes
-It's tacky instead of having your own domain
-It's a free beta service that guarantees nothing

Not so much... I have alot of customers who their email address is
<business name>@<isp.com/net/org>
If it was ladiesman236@gmail.com and he used that as his business (and he wasnt an escort, gigilo, etc) then it would be tacky.. or at the very least unprofessional.
just sayin :)

That is the greatest qualifier I've seen in months.
Maybe years.

For exactly the reason you started this thread?

Yes, but that is still more professional than a free, anonymous, web based email address like Gmail, yahoo, myrealbox, hotmail and the like.
When we get business inquiries from free email addresses, we automatically ratchet the scam-checking by two notches. If it purports to be from an established company wanting to sell us goods, the email gets trashed without a reply.
If the company is a 'major OEM supplier', a 'respected leader in technology' with 'offices in four countries' and can't afford $20 for its own domain, well we don't have the time of day for posers and liars.

You could make a thread on the official "Gmail Help Discussion Group," http://groups.google.com/group/Gmail-Help-Discussion.
Additionally, here is the link to the Gmail Help Center: http://mail.google.com/support/
Although, at this point, I don't think there is much that can be done to retrieve the emails, beyond explaining the reason for their deletion, unfortunately. :(
