iBook Cache Question

The older G3 iBooks have 512k Cache, the newer -- 256. Why? Did they go DDR?

The newer G4 iBooks have 256k of L2 cache simply because that's how much Motorola puts into the PPC 7445/55 processors. It wasn't a decision on Apple's part.
