The Automatic location in Network Preferences correctly resolves my mac's name (zampano) to localhost/127.0.0.1. However, I created a new location, Home, which uses OpenDNS and a static IP. When I use this location, it does not resolve zampano to my localhost. (This is based on a local lighttpd install, bound to all interfaces currently.) I've tried adding local to my search domains, making sure the proxy bypass settings match Automatic--to no avail.

The final goal is to lock lighttpd down to just locally resolving names (127.0.0.1, localhost, zampano). Another issue is that the firewall is set to specific services, lighttpd is set to block incoming connections, yet lighttpd appears to be accessible via the LAN IP.

Any ideas on locking it down without inconveniencing myself? The server is just for local development and testing--there should be no access for anything but this computer.
